Waterloo

Post by thierry »

the BE coins named Waterloo may NOT be issued on demand of France.

France claims that remembering this battle will have a bad impact for the EU countries.

This battle was the start for France to loose her importance in Europe and France never had that back

So sorry for all the collectors . The coins are already minted and coasted 50.000 €

All last money for the ego of France

I'm disappointed

I think the reaction of France is not very smart.
The design looked very neutral to me and with this action France now is drawing attention to the subject.
Strange enough France was issuing a D-Day coin, I did not hear Germans complain about that.
The battle of Waterloo was just as D-Day important to Europe, so why not commemmorate that.
Anyway, this behaviour of France looks very childish to me, maybe some French collector can explain why this happens.

This is a stupid and nationalistic reaction of our government.

France will issue in july a coin commemorating....the 500th anniversary of the batlle of Marignan (which we won,of course!)

I suggest to all the european countries which were then our "enemies" to protest the same way France did it for Waterloo.

According to this site the 2ECC is already canceled. Actually 175.000 were minted and already destroyed after cancellation.

Waterllo was a historic event and may be celebrate by a coin, if every time a 2€ commemorative coin celebrate a battle someone is not agree we will had some problem every year.
Why France didn't claim early ? then it avoid minted and destruction and then save some money.
I suppose 50.000 € is not important for our politicians :-(
Sorry for that.

Hello everybody,

you can see on this link the program 2015 of Belgium.

http://www.numismatica-visual.es/wp-con ... ca2015.pdf

This year, not of 1 and 2€ for the circulation, only in BU (30.000).
Not of commemorative, except the common 2€CC

Best regards, Indy.
