I also already have new 5€ bankotes in my hands...UNC, of course...:-)

For those which are interested in this data:
Serial number: NA5131...
Shortcode: N014A5

As far as I'm informed, first letter in serial number doesn't defines issuing country any more...

I have looked for more info about these new notes, and I need some confirm...

At the moment these notes are printed only from these countries:

Austria: N - Österreichische Banknoten und Sicherheitsdruck GmbH, Wien
Italy: S - Banca d'Italia, Roma
France: U - Banque de France, Chamalières
Spain: V - Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre, Madrid
Belgium: Z - Banque Nationale de Belgique, Bruxelles

So we have notes with first letter of serial and letter that identifies the printer that are only N S U V Z.

There is no confirm about the meaning of first letter of serial, that could still identify the issuing country like in the old serie: at the moment we have only notes with Serial and printer code with same letter, no other informations.

Is this correct?

hi tycho
i reply you again
based ECB production 2012 year which is refering for the 2nd notes 5e series is correct
only 5 countries will print new 5e notes. the countries you refer .
also first letter in printer code and first letter in serial number is same and based the info we have so far is country suppose based. i mean letter S is for italy but the notes with letter S found in greece, netherlands and other countries.
The previous notes for example letter Y greece , have found only in greece at past times (2002). so is not the same with then new 5e euro series
i hope you get the main idea cause my english in not very good

Ok Magneto, now I understand. First letter of Serial doesn't mean anymore issuing country because I can find, as Zvenket said for example, notes printed in Austria with N in serial that are issued in Slovenia.

But a question right now: finding notes with difference in first letter serial / printer letter (like, in the past, S/F = notes issued by Italy and printed by Austria) could be still possible? Or future notes will always have the same letter in serial and in printer code (that's why serial number does not identify the issuing country anymore)?
