If you collect by type then you don't need 1ct,2ct,5ct... there is no new design. The design remain the same as the coins of 2001.
The 10ct,20ct,50ct exist only in the BU (2009/2011) and Proof (2006) sets... so it will be difficult to find them as single coins... only if someone breaks the set.

Vangelis  1.2.5 cts from monaco have 2 different design.
From 2001 to 2005 The word MONACO, mintmaks and year are in the outher ring
From 2006 to now the word MONACO, mintmarks and the year are in the center ring

Yes Joel you are right... but I don't thing that this can be considered a different type.
For example the mintmarks already changed 3 times... and of course the year. Like the French coins.
When I say collect by type then you only check the design.
Even the krause catalog has the 2009 coins with the same KM# like the 2001 coin.
Of course it's up to every collector, what to collect.

I would consider those two different types. The date and the country name have changed the place also the stars have differently placed.
You can not count always on Krause, it is often wrong.
For example Spain 2010+ have different type number in Krause although the change was much smaller compared to Monaco. Also Belgium 2008 and 2009+ have their own numbers although difference between 2008 and 2009 is hard to see.

In general changes in mint mark are not thought to change the type ase many countries can have several mints or each year coin from different mint.
