Hello dear friends and coin collectors,

this year everything is very different. I hope you will spend the upcoming Easter holidays not lonely. I will drive to my parents on Wednesday.
This little friend here visiting me in my apartment in Munich since few month. Probably it will not bring me Easter eggs. Instead he diligently steals the walnuts.

As I said, everything is different this year. Getting presents is nice, but the greatest gift we can get today is when you don't lose a family member or a friend.

I already had the pleasure to swap with a many of you. Only few of you I could met in live. Hope this will change when one day you will come to Germany or I am on vacation in your beautiful country. Take care of you all.

At first, I wish you and your families a healthy and happy Easter and hope that Easter will remain a celebration of joy for all of you.

Sahak

Orthodox Church didn't accept reform of pope Georg XIII, which introduced Gregorian calendar in 1582. In contrast to Roman Catholic Church they still "count time" based on Julian calendar.
Ok, I understand the difference in dates for example for Christmas, which is defined on fixed date. By the way...after 2100 the difference will be one day longer, although I don't really care how world will look like in 2100. I will be 6 feet under anyway...:-)
However, Easter is defined as "...the first Sunday after the first full moon occurring on or after the March equinox..." Therefore, Easter should be on the same date, regardless which calendar is used.
Aha...I investigated a little more. Too much time because of Corona quarantine... :geek:
Obviously, Orthodox Church calculates full moon appearance based on Metonic cycle and not based on astronomical full moon, which is used to calculate Easter date at Roman Catholic Church...

I hope you're all healthy and well.
Elvis.
