Vatikan custom taxes

Post by magneto »

Dear friends/ swappers

i need some informations for vatikan custom taxes in different european countries

i am register customer to UFN from 2008.
From this year greek customs add around 42% extra fees in every incoming letter (with invoice) from UFN
for example 2x2 euro cc (2022) with total invoice 42 euro, i pay extra custom fees 17,5e to get the coins.
so i am thinking alternative ways.
i know i can buy from internet but i prefer to keep my UFN registration there. so any advice will be apreciated.
also can you tell me if the amount of customs fees are different in other countries? for example, germany ,france, italy, belgium and go on.....

best regards
michael

Hi Michael,
Same here in France huge amount taxes for a low amount.
This is a european law from july 2020, We must pay taxes for ALL items comes from outside UE. Vatican and San MArino are not UE members.

Here the tax (VAT) is around 4€ and postal fees service take 14€ to proceed administrative work )-:
So finally aound 16€ for 2x 2€ cc. If you pay online on french post service, price drop to 7€ !

Personnaly i ordered coins only if there is somebody to buy me at same price. I don't collect it anymore.

In France some ollector ask to UFn to send all items in one shipment and ask UFN sending by carrier DHL shipping method, shipping cost is highter but there is not border taxes finally it's cheaper but it's good for a big amount only.

Now buying to coin dealer is cheaper than UFN.

thank you for the informations, Orders below 50e is not worth to pay courier, so unfortunately i'll stop order direct from UFN.

In Lithuania you need tompay VAT which is 21%, but at the end if you collect orders from friends coins are cheaper than to buy from dealer

I live in Ireland and I was being charged VAT (23% + €3.5 processing fee) since at least 2022.
Then since sometime last year my items were being returned to Vatican (somehting to do with 'the black lane' as the postal service put it) so now they send to me via DHL; it costs a little more for the postage but a side effect was that I wasn't charged VAT (at least not yet).

I know this solution has already been discussed; just sharing my expirience.
