In 2025 it will start a new design competition. The best designs will be published in 2026. People can vote for their favorite bevor European Central Bank rate the final motive. Production and issue of the new bank notes will following step by step the following years.

There are two themes about the new euro bank notes.

1. iconic European personalities who have contributed to building Europe’s cultural heritage
2. Rivers and birds
