Italian unc coins

Post by labro »

Hi everybody.
Why is it so difficult to get normal Italian unc coins? Most of them are issued in many millions.
Best regards, Lasse

good question lasse!!
as i wrote in the past in our previous community, the problem is that starting from few year ago, rolls provided by bank of italy are managed by private security service and stored in their vault!
therefore it's impossible to get rolls directly from bank of italy apart 2€ cc that are the only rolls supplied by them
random, sometime, we can find rolls at bank desk or at supermarket
i think that dealer are able to get rolls from such security service , i don't know how but....i guess in which way!!
this is the reason why it's easy to find full set loose italian coins fron dealer at high value and not directly from us.

Thanks mik for the answer.
You have a similar situation than we have. It´s quite easy to find unc rolls in Finland, but I have to buy all my rolls from dealers. CC rolls usually starts at 55 €, sets at 4,50-4,60. As long as I collect, I am ready to pay a little more than face value. If prices get a lot higher, as some cc:s lately collecting is becomming less interesting.
